March Wrap-Up

This is where I talk about how the month went for me when it came to reading and some events that maybe sparked me to read more (or stopped me from reading as much as I wanted to). I also link all the reviews I did in the month, update any reading challenges I've signed up for, discuss my plans for the following month, non-book things I've enjoyed, and give updates of my life. This year I have decided that I am not making a big deal on how many books I read or letting myself feel any guilt for the amount I didn't read. I am just going to read what sounds good in the moment without any guilt or pressure.

* = favorites for the month

Movies/TV Show

Black Panther* - Quick thoughts: maybe my favorite Marvel movie. I loved this so much!!
Scooby Doo: Case of the Lake Monster - Quick thoughts: yes I did watch this because I was excited for Hayley Kiyoko's new album. I'm not ashamed. I love her. Plus I haven't seen her as Velma and accidentally borrowed the sequel. Also, Robbie Amell as Fred is adorable.
The Big Sick*  - Quick thoughts: I loved this so much. I wasn't sure if I would (I knew there was a lot of stand up comedy bits and I hate stand up comedy) but I found this story so charming.
Wonder Woman* - Quick thoughts: My first re-watch this year. I love this movie so much. I feel like I will always love it.
Star Trek: Discovery (season 1)* - Quick thoughts: I was a bit unsure the first couple episodes but once I got into the story I was hooked. Also, Sonequa Martin-Green is absolutely gorgeous and such a talented actress. I had heart eyes the entire time watching this show.
Jessica Jones (season 2)* - Quick thoughts: Didn't like it as much as the first season but I still really loved it. I love both Jessica (her show is the best of the Netflix Marvel shows. Fight me.) and Krysten Ritter. But I wasn't a huge fan of Trish (I didn't like her in season one either) or her plot line.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season 3) -  Quick thoughts: This season was weird for me. I kind of liked it, but  I also disliked it. I will still be watching the show, but I am hoping it gets better.
The Bachelor (season 22) - Quick thoughts: I hated this season.
Star vs. the Forces of Evil (season 2)* - Quick thoughts: I loved this season! This show is great! I am not the biggest fan of the way the show is pushing the romance by the end but I still loved it as a whole.
The Siren* - This only just started so I've only seen the first two episodes but I am really enjoying it!! It's all about mermaids and mythology. I believe it's on Freeform but I've just been watching it on Hulu.

Music

Hayley Kiyoko: Expectations* - THIS ALBUM IS SO GREAT! I love all of the songs on the album and I am addicted to it. He'll Never  Love You and What I Need have been both in my head since it released.
Todrick Hall: Forbidden* - Whoa! I have been a fan of Todrick on YouTube for a long while. His covers are always so much fun to watch. He dropped a musical album (30 songs!!) and with the album a video that is basically a musical movie. It's gorgeous and I've watched it twice (its about an hour and a half). It's totally worth watching, the story is really great and I love the majority of the songs! I will link the video here.
Meghan Tonjes Cover Everyday* - Meghan Tonjes, my favorite YouTuber, did a music cover each day for the month of March and it was so much fun to look forward to each day. She ha this talent at taking a song I am not the biggest fan of and making me not only love her versison but end up enjoying the original. I will link her channel here and I recommend not only watching the last thirty-one covers but her other videos also. She also has another channel where she discusses current events in the news and entertainment.

Apps/Games

Neko Atsume: Cat Collector* - I re-downloaded this app after having it off my phone for a long while. When it was super popular a couple years ago  I downloaded it, collected all the cats, and then deleted it. A few days after I deleted it, news dropped that there would be an update with more cats to collect. I was so grumpy that I had deleted the app that I refused to play anymore. Now that time has passed I found myself interested again and it's been a lot of fun.
My Tamagotchi Forever - I downloaded this for fun thinking I'd delete it after playing with it for a little but I've had it the majority of the month and I've really enjoyed it. It is very similar to having a Tamagotchi in the 90's when it comes to how annoying it can be to take care of. However, it's been upgraded. The graphics are cuter (not pixelated)  and there are fun side games you can play to earn coins so you can buy your Tamagotchi food/clothes. It's super simple but entertaining. Not sure how long I'll have it because boy does it get annoying but for now it's been fun. If you had a Tamagotchi as a kid and want to re-live those stressful days but with better graphics I recommend it.

Life Updates

February has been a great reading month for me when it comes to quantity but I did finally read my first one star book, which is unfortunate. I also read a couple two star books. But I also did read some new favorites, especially Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi which was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to re-read! For mental health, it's been up and down. I have been writing more. Not as much as I want to but I've improved since last month. I need to just keep improving.

April Plans

For April I have some books already lined up that I want to read. I have a few library books (A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole is my next read), I also have a stack of books I own I need to read and I have a few audiobooks on my online library that  I can choose from. I also really want to re-read Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh. I know I read it only like a two months but I need to read it again. It's been on my mind since I finished it. I also would like to read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass (along with the other books I have on my Spring 2018 TBR that I haven't already read). Also, I own all four books in The Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce and I would really like to get all four this month. They keep catching my eye and I've read the first two but I want to read them all this month so I can properly review them (and actually finish the story).

Thanks for reading!
