[Book Blogger Hop] May 5-11th

Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.

Question:
Do you rearrange and move books around on the shelves, move books on your bookshelves to another area after a certain amount of time, or do you just leave them the way they are?

My response:

I currently only have one bookshelf so I don't have much room when it comes to rearranging books. Because I only have one bookshelf most of my books are in boxes in my apartment hallway. Which means once I read a book on my shelf, if I didn't like it or don't want it on my shelves anymore I will swap the book with a book in the boxes. Or just put it in the box and leave the space on the shelf. Overall though, the books stay on my shelves unless I take them all off to dust. I cannot wait for one day to be able so many bookshelves so I can rearrange all my books the way I want to. I do not see myself rearranging much once I get a set of really nice bookshelves. I know a lot of bookish people are really into constantly changing the order and I think that the only time I would be taking all the books off the shelves would be to clean the shelves.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I also have to keep my books in boxes and bins. Living in a small space is awful for a bookworm.

    1. Ugh I agree. I am so proud of my collection so I hate not being able to show it off!

  2. I have bookcase dreams too. One day! For now I do the storage bin thing too and I typically will trade books I've finished at either paperbackswap or the local used bookstore.

    1. That's a good idea! I'm always meaning to round up the books I don't want anymore and bring them to a local bookstore.

  6. I hope you are able to create the library of your dreams someday. :-) I do not re-arrange my books very often. Only when I cull or am adding new books in. Even when it comes to adding new books, it takes me a while to actually add them in. I usually just stuff them somewhere else until I get the time to spend organizing. I probably should do that sometime soon . . .

I hope you have a great week!

    1. Aw that's sweet thank you! I hope you have the library of your dreams one day too!! Hopefully sooner than later. And I do that too! I don't buy many books so when I do I make myself read them before putting them on the shelf. Which means I have stacks of books all around my apartment.

  7. We live in a small city apartment, so after receiving my Kindle five years ago, I have bought mostly ebboks and I prefer eARCs from Netgalley and Edelweiss. I only have one largish bookcase and one small one, so I only buy books I absolutely adored in hardcover. :)

    1. I am 100% in sync with all of your answer. I love my kindle for that reason! And the only books I buy are ones I know I will love or I have already read and loved. One day when I have the shelf space maybe I can go back to my crazy book buying ways, but until then I've got to be careful.
