April Wrap-Up

My plans for April were pretty simple, I wanted to try to post every day in April, read the books I had coming out and I had in my possession from the library, and try my best to not get into a slump because I was feeling it a little last month and for some reason this time of year I always get in a reading slump. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to post every day of the month (more on that later) and I most definitely got in a slump, and I still may be but I am hoping with a new month that'll change.

The reason I wasn't able to accomplish BEDA entirely is because I wasn't motivated to read, which meant I didn't have anything to review. I didn't want to just keep doing book tags and I had some personal stuff happen to me at the mid/end of the month that messed with my mental illness. I am still coming down from all that, and things seem to be looking up so I am hoping that I will have a better reading month in May. I realized that if I decide to do another post every day in a month type of challenge I may just do business days, to give myself the weekend for reading and writing. Overall though, I definitely uploaded more frequently than I would have otherwise so I am calling it a success. I'll hopefully do better next time.

Book Reviews
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Shannon and Dean Hale
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

DNF Books
Empress of A Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

I was completely smitten by the cover of Empress of A Thousand Skies that I am disappointed I wasn't into the story itself. I got a little over half way before realizing the book just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with anything and I found myself skimming. I am not sure if it's the slump that affected my reading of the book or if I just wasn't in the mood, but I am not against trying it again in the future.

May Plans
After the insanity of April I think I need to take it more easily. I think I put too much pressure on myself to write and publish a post at least daily, instead of doing all the writings ahead of time and just scheduling them. It took away from my reading and it made my reading slump even bigger.

I am currently reading Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi and I have a few books I am hoping to get to this month. I am hoping to finally buddy read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with my book buddy, reading A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, and continue with Cassandra Clare's works and read Clockwork Angel. I have a couple of reviews I want to do for books I was sent, and I have a few books I got on my kindle because they were awesome daily deals. I don't plan on having a strict line up but instead to just read what I am interested in at that moment. It'll help me get back into reading.

Thanks for reading!

How was your April reading wise?
