[Top 5 Wednesday] Fictional Dream Jobs

It's time for this week's Top Five Wednesday! This has been created by gingerreadslainey and it also has a Goodreads group. I am hoping to do these posts (or other weekly Wednesday posts) more often as long as I am interested in the current prompt! This week's prompt is what fictional career would you want to have if you could choose a fictional job. This is one of my favorite prompts because one of my favorite things about reading is to escape and put myself in the shoes of the main characters. Some fictional jobs are so much fun to desire, I can't tell you how many times I wished I could go to Hogwarts when I was younger (let's be real, and when I am a grown adult).

Professional Hobbit
I will admit that I haven't read the Hobbit or any of the Lord of the Rings books. I want to, but I just haven't yet. However, because movies and TV are allowed I am going to allow it. Because I am basically a hobbit anyway. Also, I don't think "Hobbit" is actually a job in LoTR and more of a species but I just really wanna be a Hobbit so I am using this as an answer! I don't love spontaneous adventures, and my anxiety makes it so if my plans change abruptly I am uncomfortable. I prefer a cup of tea, silence, and a good book. This may contradict some of my other answers, but I think it would be really boring for me to only pick non-adventure jobs.

Journalist for The Quibbler
I think it would be so cool to be able to write about things happening in the magical world that J.K. Rowling wrote for us.Although I love the Harry Potter books, we don't get to see much of the wizarding world until the last book, and even that is very limited. I think it would be really cool to be a journalist and get to go to different places for different stories. Granted, the Lovegood's are a bit crazy, so I think it would be challenging at times, but I think it would also be a lot of fun. I picked The Quibbler over the Daily Prophet because of their moral compass. They were the only news (at least from what the books mentioned) that was brave enough to publish what was really happening during Voldemort's rise. Plus working with Luna would be so much fun.

Chimera Resurrector
So I don't remember if there is a term for this or not. I tried looking it up and from what I could find there doesn't seem to be. In the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor there is a practice that only a select number of chimera know how to do which brings back members of the dead chimera army back to life in order to defeat the seraphim. Although it sounds really exhausting and morbid I think it would be so cool to do it like Karou does! I totally understood Zuzana's excitement about helping Karou out.

Camp Counselor at  Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqui Thistle Crumpet's Camp For Hardcore Lady Types (Specifically Roanoke cabin)
I love the LumberJanes comic series. I think that although the adventures and situations the girls get put into would be a bit terrifying it would also be a lot of fun. Plus, the girls would be so much fun to be around. I know this contradicts my Hobbit answer, but I feel like the adventures the girls go on are exciting enough for it to be worth the terror. Plus, I kind of just want to be in their friend group because of how close and sweet they all are with each other.

Dragon Naturalist
I haven't read the book A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan but I have had it on my bookshelf for a long while. I am hoping to read it sometime this year. It's about a Victorian woman named Isabella. Being a dragon naturalist sounds so cool, learning about dragons and being a dragon expert.

Thanks for reading!

Which dream jobs have I forgotten? Would you have picked different ones? Do you agree with my choices?

  2. I took a major detour with this one, and now I'm regretting it! :( Mine is SO boring compared to the posts I've been reading! Whoopsies! Apparently I just wasn't feeling very creative last night.
