Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.
Question:
When reading a series, do you re-read the previous book(s) before reading the newly released book? (submitted by Angelica @ Paperback Princess)
Answer:
For me it depends on a few things! One being how eager I am to jump into the new book. Also, if I don't remember much about the previous book I will probably re-read if I have the time. If I don't have the time, or if I remember most of the previous events and just need a quick refresher, I will probably look up a spoiler-filled summary. Or look up a spoiler-filled book talk on BookTube.
This is why I put so much value in reviewing all the books I read because that definitely helps me remember the events of each book! With all the books I read each year mixed with my terrible memory I often need some sort of refresher by the time a new book in a series has been released, since it's typically every year or so.
How about you? Do you re-read the previous book(s), look up summaries, or jump right into to the new release?
Thanks for reading!
I always want to reread, but I rarely have time. I agree! Having a great review to read over helps!
ReplyDeleteYeah!! It's so hard to schedule it in which is such a bummer because it's my favorite thing to do.
DeleteI don't re-read books. But, I do review my notes or check out a few reviews. I never thought of checkout a spoiler review on YouTube. Hmmm...I will have to try that.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I super recommend trying that out! Normally book reviews are spoiler free but Book Talks dive deep into the plot and spoilers. They are great for catching up, as long as there is a video on the book! :D
DeleteIt depends on lots of different factors but time between releases is the key one.
ReplyDeleteYeah!! I think having the time is the biggest obstacle!
