[Book Blogger Hop] June 15th-21st: Rare Collector's Edition vs. Multiple New Releases

Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.

Question:

You have just won a $100.00 Visa gift card. Will you spend the entire amount on a rare collectors addiction you have always wanted, or buy several newly-published books? Explain your choice.   (submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books)

Answer:

This is such a great question, and I have been thinking of it for a little while now. I think I would probably spend the entire amount on the rare collectors edition. I tend to borrow most of my new releases from the library before buying them for my collection. So I would probably see it as a sign that the universe is just saying "Buy the book you've been drooling over!!!" and do it. But I am also someone who hates spending a lot of money on something I don't need so I'd probably have a little bit of anxiety while doing it.

However, hypothetical situation aside, I'd probably buy a bunch of books on my list that  I've already borrowed and loved from the library because I don't think I've ever found a rare collectors edition I've had my eyes on.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I love the consideration that you've put into your answer to this week's question! I definitely think that if there's a book you adore, you should feel free to purchase the collector's edition as there's understandably something special about owning a special copy.

Personally, I'm not somebody who goes to the library and borrows books, just due to the fact that I've never really gone down that type of 'reading route' (if that makes any sense? I don't have experience with libraries apart from in school, haha) but I too would probably just buy a range of new releases. Similar to your own answer, I don't have a specific series or book that I think I love enough to spend a lot of money on a rare collector's edition of it, but who knows - maybe one day!

Feel free to check out my own answer if you wish!

    1. Yeah!! Going on a shopping spree sounds amazing right now. I feel like if I even look up rare collection editions of my favorite books I'll be done for and broke hahaha.

Thanks for reading! I'll look at your answer now!
