[Book Blogger Hop] September 22-28th

Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.

Question:
In regards of Banned Books week (www.bannedbooksweek.org/) what are you favorite books that have been banned or challenged?

Answer:

The Harry Potter books have been banned for so long. I was directly affected by it for a while because I went to a Catholic school where the nuns and the parents didn't like that I was so into the series and I always had one with me at school. Honestly the banned book list is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like so many books I've read and loved have been on the list. Even a few innocent John Green books have popped up on the list. It's laughable. Here is a small(ish) list of books I love that I know have been banned:

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman
Of Mice and Men by John Steinback
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle

There are so many more.

Thanks for reading!

    1. I think we're all okay! Hahaha. And I'm not sure! Maybe I'll go through the list sometime and make a list and try to read the ones I haven't yet!

Thanks for reading! Have an amazing weekend :)

  3. I agree, it's crazy the books that have been challenged and banned--and for the reasons they give! I have read most of the books you list here and enjoyed them all. Harry Potter, The Kite Runner and A Wrinkle in Time especially. I hope you have a great weekend, Heather!

    1. Right?! It's absolutely ridiculous! So many great books are "banned" for such silly reasons. And most of the time all it does is bring attention to the book and make more people interested in reading it.

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a great weekend too! :)

    2. I reread it (via audiobook) recently in anticipation for the movie coming out next year. I am curious as to why that one is banned/challenged.

    1. Yeah! It is crazy, I feel like a lot of the ones I've seen are bans to get them out of schools, but honestly as a teenager if I heard that certain books were banned from my school it would just make me more interested in picking them up.

  7. They banned The Dark Materials?! Wait a minute, what am I saying, of course they did! 🙄 Having a look at the books that have been banned or 'questioned' and the reasons for it just make me despair...But I'm proud to have read more than a few of them!
