Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.
Question:
Have you ever read a book written in a foreign language you might be fluent in, and then read the same book in English?
Answer:
That would be really cool! But unfortunately, I have definitely not read a full book in any other language other than English. In high school I read a lot of poetry in French and then in English, but that is it really. I don't know any French now that I have been out of high school for a while. The only other language I know other than English is I know a okay amount of American Sign Language.
That is neat that you were able to read poetry in French in high school! I haven't retained much of the Spanish I learned in school, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend, Heather! Thank you for sharing.
I haven't retained much of the French we learned either! I remember almost none of it unfortunately. Thanks for reading! :)
DeleteThat is so awesome that you know how to do American Sign Language Heather. I so wish I can do the same. I only read English books even though I am bilingual in Spanish, but there is a reason why I don't read Spanish books which I explain on my blog hop post. Thank you so much for the awesome post have a great weekend and here is my blog hop link.

That is really cool that you're bilingual! I wish I had learned a different language when I was younger. I will check out your blog hop post now! <3
DeleteIt would be fun to read in a different language.

I wish I could! I feel like that would be so cool. I'd love to learn another language well enough to be able to read the Harry Potter books in that language! And I loved learning ASL in college, it's such a great language :)
DeleteOooh! I would love to learn sign language some day!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Book Blogger Hop!

I super recommend trying out ASL. It's such a fun language to learn. I probably have forgotten some since I have been out of college for a while but I am hoping that even the basic stuff I know comes in handy! :D I will check out your post now! :)
DeleteThat's cool that you know sign language!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It was a lot of fun to learn in college. I really wish I could have kept learning it even after college because I enjoyed learning a language that I could actually learn (I have a lisp that makes it hard for me to speak English, never mind another language).
DeleteI wish I knew another language. I bet I'm missing something by not reading books in their original language.
ReplyDeleteMe too!! I wish I had been more motivated as a kid to learn another language. I need to start using the DuoLingo app again.
DeleteI wish we had better language teachers in school :( I only learned weird things like words for mountains and other geography and verb translation... oye!
ReplyDeleteRight?! I don't even remember anything from French class. Other than us being so bored that we'd burst out into giggles when our stomachs started growling before lunch hahaha.
DeleteOH MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! And the "No one likes sauerkraut!" "Oh...I do..." LOL!
DeleteHahahahaha oh yeah!! I do love sauerkraut! Also
