[Top 5 Wednesday] Hate to Love Relationships

It's time for this week's Top Five Wednesday! This has been created by gingerreadslainey and it also has a Goodreads group. I am hoping to do these posts (or other weekly Wednesday posts) more often as long as I am interested in the current prompt! This week's prompt I am discussing five literary relationships that I hate to love for various reasons.

Hazel and Gus (The Fault in Our Stars)
For this couple, I hate to love them because they're so great together. And you know something sad is going to happen, even if you haven't read the book before or have been spoiled. You just know, the unwavering sense of sadness is just there in the words, even if there are funny moments. The whole time reading you're just ready for the bomb to drop.

Feyre and Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses)
At first, and still sometimes now, I didn't want to like their relationship. I didn't like that Feyre was going from one guy to another so quickly, considering she has a lot of personal issues when it came to love and being loved. But as the story went on I can't help but think they're super cute together. Although their relationship has faults, I am not denying that I kind of enjoy a lot of aspects of it anyway.

Jace and Clary (The Mortal Instruments)
This couple is one of the more angsty couples I've read about. I kind of still love it. I love them both as individual characters, even if they both drive me absolutely insane. I think they work well together and I like that their personalities compliment each other.

Celaena and Chaol (Throne of Glass)
I hate loving them together because it seems like they're not endgame anymore. I am not even sure if I would want them to be, Celaena has changed a lot, mostly for bad and I don't think she deserves Chaol. But it makes me a bit sad knowing they had something really great and it was ruined.

Karou and Akiva (Daughter of Smoke and Bone)
They're just too cute. Their whole love story is so sappy and I was caught up in it before I even realized. The writing definitely plays a huge part in my love for their relationship, because the writing is so beautiful. The reason I hate to love it is because I am not typically someone to be all about the romance aspect of books. I think that I like romance in books but it's not my main interest. And although the romance isn't my main love in this book, it comes the closest. Thinking about their romance makes me all sappy.

Thank you for reading!

    1. Saaame. I mean, she's changed so much that I'm not even sure if Aelin and Chaol would be compatible. But Celaena and Chaol certainly were.

  2. Jace and Clary are so angsty it's easy to dislike them, but at the same time - so easy to love them! Great list!
