This is where I talk about how the month went for me when it came to reading, some events that maybe sparked me to read more (or stopped me from reading as much as I wanted to). I also link all the reviews I did in the month, talk about any books I DNFed, and I discuss my plans for the following month!
This month was another slow one for me, but I read more than I did in April so I am calling it a success. I did read a lot more graphic novels or comics than I normally would, but I was trying to read as much as I could and with the slump still peeking out once in a while, I thought it was a safe bet. I got out two honest reviews, which I am proud of, and I am slowly feeling the slump leave completely. I have so many books I want to read, and the weather is slowly starting to warm up here in Maine, which is motivating me to read more! The month itself wasn't too busy. Earlier in the month I went to my favorite comic book store, which is in another state so it was a day event, to participate in Free Comic Book Day. Coming back from that exciting trip, I was on a comic book high (hence all the comic book reviews) and it made it hard to be motivated to read actual novels. Besides the comic books I reviewed, I also read all the single free comic issues I got that day, which took me from reading for the blog itself. I also actually got engaged recently, which made it hard to focus on reading because of the exciting aspects of wedding planning. Plus, my fiancé's birthday was at the end of May, so we were focused on making his birthday a good one! Overall, I am hoping I can get to more novels in June.
Book Reviews:
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe by Ryan North
Undying by Corina Bishop
A Court of Wings and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
Steven Universe: Too Cool for School by Jeremy Sorese
Shatter Me & Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi
The Beast of London by L.D. Goffigan
The Legend of Wonder Woman Volume 1: Origins by Renae De Liz
DNF Books:
This month I actually didn't DNF any of the books I picked up, which I definitely think means it wasn't a bad month for reading. Granted, a good chunk of the books I read were graphic novels or comics, but I did do two honest reviews and I really enjoyed both of them.
June Plans:
Currently I am reading Every Night, Josephine! by Jacqueline Susann. My fiancé saw this book at our library and picked it up for me because it's about a woman and her toy poodle. I own a toy poodle of my own, and he's my baby, so I was really excited to read this. So far I am about half way through and I am enjoying it, so keep an eye out for the review! Other than that, I have a handful of library books I already have checked out and a few on their way to me. I'd like to maybe read Clockwork Angel and keep going with Cassandra Clare's books since it's been a while since I've finished City of Glass. I also have one more honest review lined up that I need to get to soon, which I am excited for. Overall, I am hoping June is a good reading month. I feel like I am finally getting out of my slump and I am excited to keep reading.
