[Top Ten Tuesday] Favorite Literary Mothers

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish. A prompt is given each week, and I hope to do it every week so I always have something going up on Tuesdays. This week in honor of Mother's Day, that recently just passed in the US, we are talking about our favorite literary moms.

Lily Potter - Harry Potter
There is no way any Harry Potter list could not have Lily on their lists. She sacrificed herself for her son, even if Voldemort clearly stated she did not have to die. I love Lily, and I wish we could have gotten to know her more as a character.

Molly Weasley - Harry Potter
We all know Molly Weasley needs to be on everyone's lists. Even if you're not a full Potterhead, if you know anything about the series you know Mama Weasley is a badass sweet woman who would bend over backwards for the ones she loves.

Dante's & Ari's Moms' - Ari & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
I obviously need to re-read the book, because I cannot remember both Mom names. All I can remember is one of them is Soledad. But I remember their personalities. Both, but especially Ari's mom, know what is is like to live poor, and all they want is the best for their sons. Which is why Ari's mom hates when he ruins his sneakers and Dante's mom hates when he goes to the pool with a ratty towel instead of a nice one. They want what is best for their sons, and they want them to be proud of their family. I think this book is one of my favorites because of the families in this story.

Patty & Nadine Peaking Suso - The Upside of Unrequited
We don't get a lot from Patty and Nadine in the book because they are not the forefront of Molly's boy troubles, however I really loved them. From them getting ready for the wedding to them knowing exactly when their daughters needed them. They came off so strong and confident.

Mrs. Lancaster - The Fault in Our Stars
I love Hazel's parents, but especially her mom. Their friendship is so realistic, especially since Hazel is home schooled because of her cancer. From the witty banter to the heartbreaking moments, her mom is always there for her when she needs her.

Adam's Mom - A List of Cages
I loved Adam's mom! We do not get a lot of her in the book, but her screaming at her television and being so worried for Julian's well being made her a more tangible character. I loved Adam's relationship with her.

Alana - Saga
Alana is such a badass and she puts her kid's safety over everything else. I love the scenes with her and Marko's parents with the baby. I need to catch up on this series, but I also enjoy the scenes with Alana and Izabel.

Daenerys Targaryen- Game of Thrones
This is a bit of a cheat, I know. But Dany is a badass mother of dragons and I love her, even if she is obviously a bit insane. She treats her dragons like they are her children, and she genuinely loves them.

Thanks for reading!
