Liebster Awards: Discover New Blogs

Here are the questions asked by Joyce:

1. What is your favorite genre?

Fantasy is my favorite. I love being able to step into a completely different world than ours and be immersed. Plus, reading about magic, dragons, sword fights, assassins, etc is just so much more fun to me.

2. Who is your favorite villain?

Arobynn from the Thrones of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. I found it to be a lot of fun to hate him, and it made it easier to root for Celaena (because we know how hard that is in the later books. Since she's the worst now).

3. If you can be a character from a book who would it be and why?

Hermione Granger. She gets to go to Hogwarts, have two great best friends like Ron and Harry, and I love her personality. Plus, she marries Ron, who I love.

4. Who is your favorite author?

J.K. Rowling, John Corey Whaley, Benjamin Alire Saenz, Becky Albertalli, Patrick Rothfuss, etc. I have so many.

5. What are you currently reading? And are you liking it?

I am currently reading The Legend of Wonder Woman Volume One: Origins and I am really loving it. The story is so much fun so far, and the art is absolutely gorgeous. I want some of the pages framed, that is how much I love the art work.

6. Which genre do you absolutely hate?

Classics. It is so hard for me to stay invested in most classic literature. I am also not the biggest fan of road trip or travel books, because I am not a fan of traveling.

7. How do you organize your books on your bookshelf?

Currently it's a bit of a mess but when I one day have a wall of beautiful bookshelves I think I will want to organize my books by genre.

8. What are your bookish pet peeves?

One of my biggest bookish pet peeves is when readers are so opinionated or concerned with what other readers do with their own books. I am apart of a few bookish Facebook pages, and so many of them are angry when someone uses their own physical books for a craft or some sort of art project. Some even call people terrible readers if they write in their books or dogear a corner. I am not one to write in my books or use them for art, but I am certainly not going to call someone a monster or get angry at them because they've decided to make a purse out of a book or make bookmarks out of the pages of a book. I believe if the book is yours, no matter how you acquired it, it's yours to do what you want with it. I think we need to stop thinking our way of reading or book collecting is the right way, and be less of a mob mentality when other people do something different from us.

9. Which do you prefer: Hardcover, Paperback, or E-book?

E-book, I love reading on my kindle paperwhite. I am quicker, the books are cheaper, and I love using the highlighting/note taking tools that are available. If we are talking about for my shelves, I prefer hardcover books.

10. Have you ever bought a book without reading the description?

I used to all the time in college, but now if I am buying a book it's either because I already have read it and loved it, or it's a sequel to a series I am reading. However, I take books out of the library all the time without reading the description. I think that is one of the best ways to read a book, because the story can surprise you.

11. Where is your favorite place to read?

My couch or my bed. I am all about big blankets, tea, and being cuddled by my toy poodle while I have a book or my kindle in my hands. If I am on the couch I particularly like reading when my fiancé is playing video games. The noise in the background helps me focus on my book.
