[Book Blogger Hop] March 10th-16th

Book Blogger Hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to discover and follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend bloggers, and gain followers. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday where there will be a weekly prompt following a bookish question.

Question:
How far in advance to you read the books you have scheduled for review?

My response:
When it comes to a book I have picked up to read on my own I tend to review it right after I finish it. I like to write the review when everything is as fresh as possible. After the review has gone through an edit (or two, if I wrote it late at night and I don't trust sleepy Heather), I format it the way I like and then I publish it. I don't always publish it right away because it depends on what else I have posted and the time of the day. There was two weeks last month where I read a lot in the week, so I spaced out the reviews so they weren't all published close together. Also, if I have a non-review up one day, I also space that out with any review I have ready for publication.

I have an ARC I was sent that I plan to read and review soon. However, I don't plan on publishing the review until the day of the book's publication date. I wait until the release day because I like to use quotes from the text if I really like the book, and I like to sometimes go into a minor spoiler-y territory sometimes with certain reviews. This way I can write the review without being too worried about spoiling a book before most readers can get their hands on it.

Thanks for reading!

Do you publish right away or do you have reviews scheduled way in advance?
