The Festive Book Tag

Merry Christmas Eve! Happy Holidays! This is The Festive Christmas Book Tag, a cute tag I had a lot of fun doing! It was created by GirlReading on YouTube. I will link her original book tag here! A big part of me actually likes Christmas Eve more than the actual day of Christmas. It's filled with anticipation, happiness, warmth, and movie marathons paired with amazing food & drink. I hope you're having a great day, no matter what holiday you do (or don't) celebrate. Let's get into the questions!

1. Which fictional family would you like to spend Christmas dinner with?
The Weasley family, hands down. Despite the amount of members of the Weasley family I do not doubt that Molly makes sure every single person is having an amazing holiday.

2. A bookish item you would like to receive as a gift.
I honestly would love some of the book inspired candles or wax melts. I always see them in bookstagram posts and they look so great. I just don't have the cash to drop $20 on a candle or $7 (plus shipping) on wax melts right now. Maybe one day.

3. A fictional character that would make the best Christmas elf.
Molly Peskin-Suso from The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. In the story, gay marriage has been made legal in all fifty states (so the summer of 2015) and her moms decide to finally get married. Molly does all the crafts and wedding decor and from how it's described, she's pretty amazing at it. I feel like that is a good sign of someone who would be an amazing elf.

4. Match a book to it's perfect Christmas song.
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He's experiencing his first Christmas without the Dursleys. He's at Hogwarts, where there are presents, good food, love, warmth, and celebration. Instead of negligence and being thrown into a small cupboard underneath the stairs. He's able to have a merry little Christmas with people who treat him like a person.

5. A book or character you have been disappointed in that you think deserves to be on the naughty list.
House of Furies by Madeleine Roux. I was really excited about this book. It looked like it was going to be spooky and beautiful but it ended up just being a major disappointment for me. The writing was focused on a poorly developed romance despite really cool things happening in the background. The cool supernatural elements just didn't get fleshed out enough.

6.  A book or character you think deserves more love, appreciation, and deserves to be on the nice list?
The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. Everyone (including me) seems to love his book Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe but I don't think The Inexplicable Logic of My Life gets enough love and attention. It really deserves it.

7. Red, Gold, & Green: A book that has a Christmas-y feel to it.
This is probably cheating because it's a Christmas book, but I really love the cover for Twelve Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber. Unfortunately, I tried reading the book and I just couldn't get through the writing. The cover is pretty though.

8. A book or series you love so much that you want everyone to find it under their Christmas trees!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli, Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst, and so many more. And that is just from what I have read from this year alone.

Thanks for reading!

  1. What a fun tag! I fully agree with you about who to spend Christmas dinner with. The Weasley’s would be the best hands down!
