Ambitious BookTube-A-Thon TBR

BookTube-A-Thon is a week long challenge filled read-a-thon that was created by BookTube's Ariel Bissett. There are seven challenges you can try to complete if you're interested, but it's mostly to motivate readers to dedicate a week solely to focus on reading, which means not splitting your time up to watch YouTube, Netflix, play video games, etc. Any free time you have, put it to reading. I love this read-a-thon and it's the one I make sure I do each year, and I've done it since Ariel created it! In this post I'll tell you the books I plan on reading, which challenges they will be fulfilling, and some links and information if you're interested in learning more!

Each year I try to be a bit prepared for this read-a-thon. You kind of need to have a game plan going into the week or you'll waste a lot of time being unsure of what to read. This is the first year I think I've been a little over ambitious with my TBR. Normally, I am pretty practical by picking smaller books or comics/graphic novels because I like to complete the challenges without being overly stressed. Hopefully I won't be stressed at all, but I do have a lot of normal sized novels waiting for me this week.

Reading Challenges

1. Read a book with a person on the cover
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. Like all the other covers in this series there are illustrations of characters on the covers. I am hoping to re-read the series by the end of the year, so this is me continuing that!

2. Read a hyped book.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. The movie trailer just came out a day or two ago and not only has everyone been buzzing with how great it looks, but I got so hyped for it as well! I have read this book before, back in 2012/2013 I believe and I loved it. Unfortunately I do not remember most of it, considering it was so long ago and I was reading it while at college. So I am excited to remember why I loved it so much!

3. Finish a book in one day.
The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas. This is the first Veronica Mars mystery book. It's another one I have already read, but do not remember a lot of the contents. I know I went through it fairly quickly and I loved it. I also love the television show, and so I thought this would be quick and fun.

4. Read about a character that is very different from you.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This is a coming of age story about two Mexican-American boys. I love this book, and it's been too long since I've read it. I am currently doing a summer reading bingo challenge for my local library, and one of the challenges is to re-read a favorite, so this will fulfill that requirement also!

5. Finish a book completely outdoors.
The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way. I am pretty oblivious about what this about, all I really know is that the front man of a band I love, My Chemical Romance, is the creator.  I am hoping to read this outside, but I don't typically read outside very often. I am hoping that my fiancé, pup, and I can go somewhere nice and relaxing with some iced drinks and chill for an hour. It's a comic volume, so it should be a fairly easy read!

6. Read a book you bought because of the cover.
A Journey To The Center of the Earth by Jules Verne or Seven Ways We Lie by Riley Redgate. I bought A Journey To The Center of the Earth because of it's beautiful leather bound cover. I absolutely love it and I cannot wait to read it. However, I have Seven Ways We Lie from the library and it's due back soon. I got this book because of the cover. I could have just picked Seven Ways We Lie, but like I said earlier I am feeling ambitious, so I am going to try to do both. Although, I'll probably pick up Seven Ways We Lie first.

7. Read Seven Books.
A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. This book was given to me by a friend who absolutely loves it, so I thought it's small enough that I may as well give it a try! I am hoping to speed through it, although I am a little nervous because it's sci-fi which I am not too experienced with. I am pretty positive I'll love it, but I have A Journey to the Center of the Earth as backup!

And there you have it! These are the books i am hoping to read this week! Below I will include some important links for anyone interested in checking BookTube-A-Thon out!

Thanks for reading!

Are you participating? What is the book you're most excited to read this week?
