[Top 5 Wednesday] Gryffindor Books

It's time for this week's Top Five Wednesday! This has been created by gingerreadslainey and it also has a Goodreads group. I am hoping to do these posts (or other weekly Wednesday posts) more often as long as I am interested in the current prompt! This week's prompt is the top five books I think best represent my Hogwarts House traits, which would be Gryffindor.

Matilda by Roald Dahl
Matlida is such a brave little girl. Even before she realizes she has some sort of powers. Just the act of going against what your strict (and frankly, abusive) family believes in by putting reading and knowledge as a first priority was a brave thing for a young girl to do. I loved and looked up to her as a kid.

The Beast of London by L.D. Goffigan
The Beast of London is all about going after vampires and killing them before they can kill innocent people. The main character travels to Transylvania to rescue her fiancé from the vampires without even a hesitation. I think this book, with all the action and bravery is a great representation of Gryffindor.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
The Hate U Give is a great representation for bravery  because after the main character, Starr, sees her childhood friend (who was unarmed) get shot by the police she has to not only deal with the grief and shock, but she also has to make a decision to possibly speak out. I think Starr, her family (especially her father), and her friends are really brave in this book.

The Golden Compass by Philip Pullma
Lyra is the epitome of a Gryffindor. She's one of the best young female characters I've ever read. I think the adventure and all the events Lyra has to put herself in is quite brave and sometimes even reckless.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Another strong female young girl who I absolutely love. Coraline is such a Gryffindor, and she chooses to do the right thing even if it isn't the easiest option. I read Coraline at least once a year, and every single time I am in awe at her bravery and courage.

Thanks for reading!

What is your Hogwarts house? Which book/character do you think best fits that house?
