[Top Ten Tuesday] Authors I'm Dying to Meet

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish. A prompt is given each week, and I hope to do it every week so I always have something going up on Tuesdays. This week we are talking about ten authors I am dying to meet. Now, I need to be honest and say that even the thought of meeting most of the authors I will be listing gives me anxiety. For me, it's so intimidating to meet authors I look up to and love. Just like any sort of "celebrity" it's hard for me not to feel intimidated. I know it's an irrational fear, but it's one that I have because I have such great respect for these writers who have done something I want to one day achieve.

J.K. Rowling
She is obviously going to be on my list, especially with how much I love Harry Potter and what it means to me. She is a fantastic story teller and she speaks up for the things she believes in publicly.

Lin-Manuel Miranda
Lin will always be an inspiration to me. His mind is so brilliant and the music he writes means so much to me. I cannot wait to see what is in store for his future. I selfishly love hearing that he is getting hired and taking so many projects because it means more beautiful music. (Also: I am counting him because he helped write the Hamilton book. It counts!)

John Corey Whaley
I have read and loved all three John Corey Whaley books. I think his writing is so realistic and humorous. He is definitely one of my top five favorite authors, and he's an author that I will read every one of his books as they're published.

Benjamin Alire Saenz
If you know me or have read any of my other blogs you probably know how much I love Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I think it is one of the best books, and there's something about Ari and Dante that makes me feel so happy. I am going to be reading his newest book The Inexplicable Logic of My Life very soon, and I hope I love it as much (if that's possible) as I love Ari and Dante.

John Green
John Green is a person I'd want to meet, whether it be focused around his books or not. John is someone I have been watching on YouTube for seven years now and I have read all the books that he has written. He is always someone I will be thankful for and I would love to hug him and thank him for creating Nerdfighteria with his brother Hank.

Julie Murphy
I have only read (and enjoyed - but I plan to re-read soon) Dumplin' by Julie Murphy. I own her book Side Effects May Vary, that I want to read soon and I really want to read her new book Ramona Blue. However, other than being an author I look up to, I really look up to her body positivity on Twitter. She gives me a lot of inspiration, and I really appreciate her.

Patrick Rothfuss
I follow Patrick Rothfuss on Twitter and he seems like an absolute goof, which I love. He's always being hilarious. Plus he wrote The Kingkiller Chronicles which I absolutely love (another re-read in the next couple months).

Victoria Schwab
I am jealous of Schwab's writing skills. I love her style and her stories. I have read only two books by her but I plan on reading more of her books this year. She is another author who is very vocal on Twitter about the things happening in the world, which I really look up to. Anyone with a large following who talks about current events and keeping everyone aware has points in my book. Plus, her stories and writing have me hooked.

Noelle Stevenson
I love Noelle's art style. From Nimona to LumerJanes I cannot get enough of her art and stories. She is definitely one of my favorite comic artists and I am completely sure I would read anything she's had some sort of part in making.

Allie Brosh
Hyperbole and a Half, the website, was something that always would cheer me up when I discovered it in college. I would always be doubled over, eyes filled with tears, trying to hold myself together in the middle of the computer lounge reading her blog posts while killing time in between classes. She talked about her dogs, childhood, and even her mental illness. She brings humor out of [some] pretty sad or hopeless situations and I always found her talent to make me cry with laughter an amazing one. One her book came out, I bought it instantly, and to this day anytime I am upset I just have to open one of my favorite stories of hers and read. I think the fact that she brought light to mental illness helped me a lot. I sometimes tend to use humor to deflect my problems, and I think I relate to her a lot in that way.

Thanks for reading!

Which authors would you die to meet? Any of the same ones as me?
